The immediate-past National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and senatorial candidate of APGA in the forthcoming re-run election in the Anambra Central Senatorial zone, Chief Victor Umeh, has blasted the South-East members of the National Assembly for keeping silent over the continued detention of the Radio Biafra Director, Nnamdi Kalu by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Kanu, the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was arrested in Lagos State on Saturday, October 24, 2015 by the Nigeria secret police.

Speaking to Vanguard, Umeh lampooned the  lawmakers of South-Eastern extraction for failing to speak up over Kanu’s detention and the Biafra agitation.

He said: “Our National Assembly members should have advised the Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu first and then intervene in the dispute to ensure that frayed nerves are calmed on the issue, instead of keeping silent while the agitation is escalating.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Abuja federal High Court judge on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 withdrew himself from hearing treason charges against Kanu by the federal government.
